The All New Tesla Powerwall 3
3rd Generation Specs, Benefits & More
The Tesla Powerwall 3 is now available to order in the UK.
The revolutionary Powerwall brought innovative battery storage solutions to homes across the world. At The Little Green Energy Company, we were the first licensed installers to bring the Powerwall system to the UK and we will be one of the first to install the Powerwall 3.
Thousands of our customers in Kent, Surrey and Sussex have relied on their Tesla Powerwall battery storage systems to store their excess electricity produced by solar, charge their electric cars, and have enjoyed backup protection Powerwall offers in the event of grid outages. Powerwall also opens up all the latest energy tariffs that allow customers to trade electricity with the grid.
What’s new in Powerwall 3?
The main difference between the Powerwall 2 and the Powerwall 3 is that the new model contains an integrated solar inverter, allowing solar to be connected directly (DC coupled) for even higher efficiency.
This means that the electricity produced by the solar panels is fed directly into the battery where it is stored, before being converted to AC electricity as and when it is needed in the home, reducing the amount of conversions needed. This will ultimately improve the overall efficiency of storage, from 90% up to 97.5%, giving you more energy to use at home.
Powerwall 3 Key Features
Built in solar inverter – Efficiently converts solar energy into stored electricity, allowing the system to capture more solar energy in the process.
Easy system expansion – Designed to allow stacking of up to 4 units as your household energy needs increase. Up to 3 DC expansion packs can be added to each Powerwall anytime.
Best value – Comprehensive warranty for 10 years, all-inclusive with unlimited cycles. 80% energy retention after 10 years and 100% depth of discharge.
Active thermal management – Redesigned active thermal management system to enhance performance and efficiency.
3rd Generation Powerwall Specifications
Powerwall 3 supports up to 20 kW DC of solar and provides 11.04 kW AC of continuous power per unit. It has the ability to store up to 13.5 kWh of energy and start heavy loads rated up to 185 A LRA, meaning a single Powerwall 3 can support the power needs of most homes.
Powerwall 3 is designed for fast and efficient installations, modular system expansion, and simple connection to any electrical service.
If you’re thinking of having a Tesla Powerwall 3 installed then you need to be aware of the benefits. Powerwall owners know that they can rely on their Tesla battery storage to provide whole-home backup to power their house in the event of an outage, and can become more energy independent by producing their own sustainable solar energy at home.
Customers can monitor their entire system and manage their energy flow through the Tesla app in order to meet their energy goals. Integrating your residential solar panel system with Tesla Powerwall just makes sense.
Tesla continues to revolutionise the already legendary Powerwall system, and the brand new Tesla Powerwall 3 is a powerhouse of solar energy battery storage. Powerwall 3 is a fully integrated solar and battery system, designed to meet the needs of your home. Supplying more power with a single unit, and easily expanded to grow with you, the Powerwall 3 is an innovative solution to energy storage.
The Powerwall 3 comes with its own integrated hybrid inverter, meaning it shares its inverter with the solar panels making the whole renewable energy system more efficient. The solar panels will simply connect straight into the Powerwall 3.
The integrated inverter will be rated at a massive 11.5kW, allowing a good sized solar PV system to be attached. It also has 6 MPPT inputs which will cover the majority of installations shading requirements.
The new Powerwall 3 will be able to supply more power than its predecessor. It is expected to be able to supply twice as much power on demand using its own integrated inverter. This means it will be able to run most appliances in your home as well as offering you twice as much power in the event of a power cut.
