Job Description

Reporting to the Installations Manager, the post holder is responsible for overseeing the remote working installation teams and assisting the Operations team in delivering and scaling up the solar PV department, including design and installations, on both residential and commercial projects. We are looking for an energetic and professional individual who has experience in managing onsite teams, and liaising with clients. The role will be based at our head office in Colliers Green and our various sites across the South East of England.

Dedication to timescales and attention to detail where appropriate. A safe pair of hands. Relevant experience working within the renewables sector, ideally in a domestic Solar PV, Energy Efficiency and an operational/management role. Problem solving needs to be something you enjoy and are good at, with a strong drive to deliver on time, on budget, and on quality is essential.

The key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Management of the TLGEC installation team.
  • Developing good working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Complete Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and handover documentation for all works where required.
  • Ensuring Health & Safety procedures are up to date and installation teams are regularly briefed through toolbox talks. Regular Health & Safety inspections and constant monitoring of safe working practices including welfare and wellbeing.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and updating QMS/CRM.
  • Offer engineer/office project support.
  • Site supervision of Solar installations in the construction phase.
  • Working with all key parties to ensure safety and a timely completion of the individual project.
  • Provide daily reports from site to the project manager allowing wider programme management.
  • Stock ordering and stock control of the site, minimising waste, and ensuring suitable equipment readily available to maintain the works programme.
  • Weekly snag inspections and report generation.
  • Ensure compliance of the installation works in line with Custom Solar Manufacturers installation guidelines.
  • Effective mobilisation and site set up of the project.
  • Ensuring works adhere to RAMS, and if variations to recommended working methods are required, manage the adjustments in conjunction with the project manager.
  • Monitoring and reporting on progress including budgeting and cashflow projections.
  • Effective practical completion of installations, including witnessing of installer testing of systems.
  • Assisting the project manager with final project sign off.
  • Ensure daily paperwork is maintained.
  • Conduct daily safety briefs.

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience implementing domestic Solar PV projects with battery storage. Experience of rooftop solar PV deployment in a commercial environment.
  • A relevant construction related Health and Safety qualification, such as SMSTS or other recognised professional qualifications.
  • CSCS Card at Academic or Professionally qualified, enabling you to attend sites.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing domestic Solar PV  and / or roofing installation projects and teams, in addition to managing DNO G98 & G99 requirements and applications.
  • Ability to interpret PV designs for all building types.
  • A qualification in Construction Management, such as an NVQ, BTEC National or Degree level.
  • Strong electrical background.
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours.
  • Full and Clean driving licence.
  • Able to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • An approachable and positive role-model to the renewables team.
  • Supervision experience in a construction environment.
  • Good working knowledge of various site documentation, particularly Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and project snag list management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Desirable Skills

  • 18th edition electrical qualifications.
  • IOSH / NEBOSH H&S qualifications.

You will be based from our offices in Colliers Green, Kent, working in a team of enthusiastic people passionate about positively impacting our planet! There will be a requirement to travel to suppliers and sites, usually within the Southeast of England but could be required within the UK.
