Solar and Battery Installation in Horsmonden, Kent

A 16 kWp solar system designed for greater energy independence.

The homeowner in Horsmonden, Kent, wanted greater control of their energy use and to reduce their reliance on electricity from the grid.

They invest in a large solar panel installation and battery storage system designed to maximise the amount of renewable electricity generated and stored at the property.

Project results

  • £2,988 estimated net annual bill savings
  • 76.5% estimated electricity bill offset
  • 16 kWp solar capacity
  • Tesla Powerwall 3 with DC Expansion Pack

Designing around the property

With 32 panels required to achieve the desired level of generation, the available roof space had to be used effectively.

The solar array was distributed across both main roofs of the property, with the roof’s concrete plain tiles and 40 degree pitch considered as part of the installation design.

The battery system was installed in the garage, with the Tesla Gateway positioned externally close to the property’s main electrical supply.

Cable routes between the roof arrays, garage and Gateway were planned to provide a practical and tidy installation.

The completed system

The installation comprises:

  • 32 × SunPower 500W solar panels
  • 16 kWp solar generation capacity
  • Tesla Powerwall 3
  • Tesla DC Expansion Pack
  • Tesla Backup Gateway
  • Bird protection

The combination of solar generation and expanded battery storage allows the homeowner to capture renewable electricity during the day and store energy for use when required.

A system built around the customer’s goals

From the initial survey through to installation, the project was shaped around the homeowner’s aim of becoming more energy independent.

The result is a carefully considered solar and battery system that makes full use of the available roof space while providing substantial energy storage for the home.

With the installation now complete, the homeowner has a system designed to support their long term energy needs, backed by a team they felt confident with throughout the process.
