In-Roof Solar Installation in Brook, Kent
When a previous TLGEC customer in Brook, Kent, decided to invest in solar and battery storage, they returned to us for their second renewable energy installation.
The project was both a solar panel installation and a battery installation, which included:
- 15 SunPower 445W solar panels, providing a total installed capacity of 6.7kW
- Tesla Powerwall 3 and Gateway.
The panels were installed using a GSE in-roof system, allowing the array to sit within the roofline for a streamlined finish.
Integrating solar into the roof
The GSE in-roof system allows the solar panels to form part of the roof rather than sitting above the existing roof covering.
For this project, the panels were installed using robust Sun Fixings metal trays. These provide a substantial mounting structure whilst achieving the integrated appearance the customer wanted.
Careful attention was given to the roofing work and weatherproofing to ensure the finished system was secure and properly integrated with the property.
Solar generation, battery storage and backup
The new solar PV system was paired with a Tesla Powerwall 3. This battery allows excess solar generation to be stored and used later when the panels are not producing enough electricity.
A Tesla Gateway was also installed to provide backup functionality. In the event of a power cut, the Gateway safely disconnects the property from the electricity grid, allowing the Powerwall 3 to continue supplying power in backup mode.
This gives the customer an additional level of resilience during a grid outage, while allowing the battery to make greater use of the renewable energy generated by the new solar array.
A second installation with TLGEC
This was the customer’s second installation with TLGEC, making their decision to return to us particularly rewarding.

The completed system combines 6.7kWp of integrated solar generation with Tesla Powerwall 3 battery storage and Gateway backup capability.
