Derek Higgins – Solar Surveyor

Derek has a solid background in renewable energy and has also accumulated experience and an in interest in social media, marketing, advertising and working in start ups. Outside of work, Derek is partial to a game of golf!

How long have you worked at TLGEC and what does your role entail?

I joined TLGEC in January 2013, my role is essentially making sure that solar PV systems are compatible with our clients’ properties, whilst carrying out regular maintenance and inspection services.

What do you like most about your job and working for TLGEC?

The thing that I like most about my job, is getting to meet clients and delivering a good solution with a quality service, it’s always worthwhile seeing smiles on their faces.

What does working with solar power and renewable energy mean to you?

Working in this sector is enjoyable as we are delivering a solution to reducing the carbon footprint of domestic clients, as well as helping  reduce electricity costs which will dramatically rise as we transition to all electric appliances.

What’s your biggest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment is delivering the perfect solution to every client I meet, regardless of size or cost and learning new things every day is a bonus.

What would you say to someone that is thinking of switching to renewable energy to power their home or business?

Now is definitely the time to do so, as not only will people contribute to saving the planet and creating a greener future, they will also save money on their electricity bills, benefiting them in the long run.
