Case Study: Solar, Battery and EV Installation, London – Mrs Birch

Project Overview
In November 2025 we installed a solar and battery system for Sarah in Bell Green, London. Her main motivation was doing her part for the green agenda. She wanted to cut her carbon footprint and generate as much clean energy as possible. After researching the environmental impact of different systems, Sarah spent time speaking with eight separate solar companies before choosing The Little Green Energy Company for our expertise and honest approach.
We designed a system built around eight SunPower Maxeon 415W panels and a nine kilowatt hour SigEnergy battery to support her sustainability goals. Panels were installed across both the front and rear roofs to maximise generation throughout the year. The hybrid inverter and battery were fitted neatly inside her small garden shed, and the gateway was installed in the understairs cupboard where it stayed out of sight and easy to access.
| Specification | Detail |
|---|---|
| Number of Panels | 8 SunPower Maxeon Panels |
| Solar Battery | 1 × SigEnergy SigenStor |
| Annual Energy Generation | 2,696 kWh (estimated) |
The Challenge
The property had two roof areas with different space limits. We needed to design a layout that kept performance high with five panels at the back and three at the front. This required careful planning to maximise annual generation.
The customer also wanted a battery that could store enough energy for evening use. As space around the home was limited the system had to fit without disrupting their daily life.
The Solution
We installed SunPower Maxeon all black panels, which deliver strong output even in low light. This helps the home produce energy from early morning to late evening. The full array is rated at 3.32kWp and is expected to generate 2,696 kWh each year.
To support storage needs, we installed a 9kWh SigEnergy battery with a hybrid inverter. This gave the customer a simple and compact setup with excellent energy control. All equipment was mounted in the shed to keep the home free of clutter.
Our in house team managed every step from design to commissioning. We also completed the DNO process and delivered the full handover pack on completion.
The Results
The system now delivers an expected 2,696 kWh of clean energy each year. The 3.32kWp array produces steady output across both roof areas. The panel layout improves generation through the day and supports strong low light performance.
The 9kWh SigEnergy battery now stores excess power for evening use. This reduces the customer’s need for grid electricity during peak times. The battery also supports daily savings and gives greater energy control. The home now uses far less grid power each day. The customer has already seen lower bills and a clear drop in energy use. The system runs quietly, needs little upkeep and provides reliable clean power.
