Case Study: Solar, Battery and EV Installation, Herne Bay Kent – Mr & Mrs Luck
Project Overview
With retirement not far away, Mr and Mrs Luck contacted us as they wanted to bring down their energy bills and make their home more efficient. They also wanted something that would last and reduce their impact on the planet. In August 2025, our team completed their new solar and battery system at their home in Herne Bay, Kent.
The setup included ten SunPower Performance panels, two Tesla Powerwall 3 batteries, and a MyEnergi Zappi charger. It’s a complete system that gives them clean, reliable power for their home and electric car. A month later, the difference was already clear. Their September electricity bill dropped by 90 percent compared with the same month in 2024.
Together with the savings from their new electric vehicle, they now expect to save around £3,000 a year.

The Challenge
The Lucks had seen their energy bills rise year after year and wanted to act before retiring. They had done plenty of research and spoken to other installers, but none felt quite right.
They wanted a company with experience, strong values, and people who would treat their home with care. A company to listen, explain things clearly, and handle every step with professionalism. Honesty and reliability were top of their list. They also wanted a system that would work well with an electric car, which they were about to buy. That meant finding the right balance between solar generation, battery storage, and car charging.
Our goal was to design something that met those needs and could grow with them over time.
The Solution
After visiting the property and running performance checks, our design team created a tailored plan. We installed ten SunPower Performance panels, producing 4.45 kilowatts of power. These panels are known for their efficiency, strength, and clean design that suits any roof. To make the most of the energy they produced, we added two Tesla Powerwall 3 batteries. Together they store 27 kilowatt hours of power, giving the couple energy independence day and night. The batteries also provide backup power in case of a power cut.
To complete the system, we installed a MyEnergi Zappi EV charger. It allows their car to charge directly from solar energy, turning sunshine into free miles. It’s a simple, effective way to reduce costs and make full use of the system.
The project moved from contract to completion in just three weeks.

The Lucks were delighted with the installation team. “My wife liked that the installation team were exceptionally good looking and charming,” he joked. “I liked that they were industrious, did not appear to stop work all day, and always made a point of saying a courteous and cheerful goodbye at the end of each shift.”
Their results have been outstanding. “Our electricity bill for this September dropped 90% compared to September 2024. Factoring in fuel savings on my old diesel car, we saved about £160 in our first month,” said Mr Luck. “We estimate we will save at least £3,000 per year.”
He ended his review by saying, “It is genuinely hard to imagine a better supply and service – and nicer people to work with.”
