Job Description

We are searching for a composed and astute Buyer to help coordinate and oversee multiple renewable energy installation projects for our customers and clients. The role will be engaging and varied and will require a ‘role your sleeves up’ attitude.

This role would really suit someone who has experience in a wholesale electrical distribution business, dealing with manufacturers, suppliers and trade alike. A good understanding of electrical components, buying and supply strategies is imperative.

Reporting directly to our Operations Manager and working alongside our sales and operations teams, we are looking for someone who works well in a team environment, but also who is driven to achieve and develop on a personal level.

The key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Developing procurement strategies that are inventive and cost-effective.
  • Sourcing and engaging reliable suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiating with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms.
  • Reviewing existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-going feasibility.
  • Building and maintaining long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Approving purchase orders and organizing and confirming delivery of goods and services.
  • Performing risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements.
  • Controlling the procurement budget and promoting a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
  • Overseeing and managing the IT systems that track shipments, inventory, and the supply of goods.
  • Preparing procurement reports.

 

Essential Skills

  • Excellent communication, organisational and negotiating skills.
  • An aptitude for figures, an analytical mind and the ability to manage a budget.
  • Excellent IT Skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • The ability to build up a good a good knowledge of manufacturing and distribution methods and suppliers.
  • Teamwork skills.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and manage your time to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well in a pressured environment.
  • Proven history of successful supplier negotiation and purchasing, inventory and distribution management skills.
  • Full Clean Driving Licence.
  • Be self-motivated and punctual.

Desirable Skills

  • Educated to A-Level or equivalent.
  • Desire to study or actively studying through CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply).
  • Knowledge of the renewable energy sector.

    You will be based from our offices in Colliers Green, Kent, working in a team of enthusiastic people passionate about positively impacting our planet! There will be a requirement to travel to suppliers and sites, usually within the Southeast of England but could be required within the UK.
