Water Shortages in 25 Years
England will have insufficient supplies of water in 25 years, the chief executive of the Environment Agency, Sir James Bevan warns in a hard-hitting speech. He says: “Water companies all identify the same thing as their biggest operating risk: climate change.”
There are several factors involved including water leaks and population growth but rising temperatures are blamed for a predicted reduction of summer river water levels by 50-80% in years to come.
With water supply levels threatened the stakes could hardly be higher. We have the solutions to tackle climate change but we need to implement changes at a personal and governmental level.
